Well think about an adventure when the "dark elf" was first created or some sort of a building that in forward adventures it is already built , and also give the players the opportunity to shape the course of history for the next adventure in a different way then the way they were played. you don't need to stick to this idea as the main path for developing your adventure. It can also be a part of a regular adventure with some sort of a time leap
